Who We Are

Former Prodigy Media is a Los Angeles-based production company co-founded by two-time Emmy Award-nominated producer Phil Viardo, and his longtime friend and colleague, American Television star and entrepreneur Christopher Knight. After collaborating in different capacities for nearly two decades, they launched Former Prodigy in 2019 with the goal of taking their creative endeavors to the next level by expanding to produce projects with fascinating content and versatile IP that thrives both in the documentary/nonfiction and the narrative spaces.

In 2022, Former Prodigy Media released their first feature documentary “Truelove: The Film,” that has won several awards and accolades at numerous film festivals and is now streaming on most major platforms in North America and beyond. Their debut foray into narrative features comes in a form of a highly-anticipated animated film “The Inventor,” from Oscar-nominated writer, director Jim Capobianco, in theatrical all across America on September 15, 2023. The company is also currently in pre-production on several premium documentary projects, including “The House With No Walls,“ directed by Vadim Perelman (“House of Sand and Fog”); and several scripted television and film projects slated for production in 2024, including a modern monster feature “Monstrosity,” an action comedy “The Empresario,” and “The Heart Will Break,” based on a critically acclaimed screenplay.

As experts in international production logistics, FPM is often called upon to set up international co-productions in order to make sure that world’s best creative content knows no borders.
